One thing we seem to have overlooked is the sales rank of the 5CD and 2CD box sets. That in itself is a great indication of how the general public are receiving the release.

Anyway,

31.10.2011 they ranked at #37 for the 5 CD set and around #170 for the 2 CD set
01:11:2011 they are currently at #27 and  #15 respectively.

A number 1 spot is not of the question.

this is so great.
there's a quote in the Uncut article that reads:

"Really? SMiLE is gonna sell? What market, though? Who's going to buy it?" -Brian Wilson, 2011

Maybe Brian will finally see how much people love his music and highly regard his genius, regardless of what year we find ourselves in.

There was a (mediocre) review of SMiLE in yesterday's Los Angeles Times.

But, anyway, the writer mentioned to Brian that bands like Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, Regina Spektor and many more were greatly inspired by both the Beach Boys and SMiLE, and his response was, "Really?"

God love him!

By the way in case I wasn't clear, the LA Times gave the album 2 1/2 out of 4 stars which IS COMPLETE BS

I DON'T THINK THE REVIEWER LISTENED TO MUCH OF IT

EFF THE LA TIMES AND EFF ANYONE WHO DOESN'T GIVE SMILE 10 STARS OUT OF 5

OKAY I'LL STOP SHOUTING NOW

The only thing that would have been better is if he said "Who?" instead of "Really?"

That would have been easily as hilarious as his "oldies but goodies" comment.
