Personally I shall be photographing myself buying SMiLE and posting it on this very thread, because I am a tragically sad individual. I want a permanent record of the moment I bought SMiLE to be online forever, or until this board is hacked again, whichever comes sooner

Gaaaargh… I hadn't read that on Imwan, just the later notes about him being banned.  That was a step way-too far, for sure.

I'll second Fishmonk's proposal, let's have Phil back in for some rational debate.  Too much bruising already.

SMiLE's about to be released, it's a fresh era, and it's be good to let bygones and all that.  We should maybe all be ecstatic together.

It's in the past.  'The Smile Sessions' is on its way to a retailer or mailbox near you (and me).  This should be a time for celebration and positivity among all BB/BW fans, not put-downs and petty bickering.  It's my sincere hope that Phil gets as much enjoyment out of his Smile box as all the rest of us.  In fact, I kind of hope that he gets MORE joy out of it.

Yeah, I really don't get why Andrew is acting the way that he is. The way he was carrying on about the smile promo thing was really...odd.

that's it. It's not like he's been on the street corner with a sign saying "repent! the smile box will not have the capitol promo!". He just noticed something was missing in the tracklist, commented on it, and moved on. How many other posters have done the *exact same thing* regarding their favorite smile fragment? Andrew however, did not feel it prudent to move along. I've seen him making posts about this on all three boards, and he's done his damndest to build it up into ridiculous proportions. What exactly was your point Andrew? So something Phil was dissapointed might not be on the box, turned out to be on the box after all? Good, I'm sure Phil is glad. Why do you feel such a desire to rub it in his face? To be such a dick about it? It feels really petty, and as much as you accuse Phil of being obsessive, the way that you drew this little comment from Phil out to be some massive humiliation is just ridiculous, and makes almost no sense.

Yup - like I said, childish and undignified, but given that his monotonous bitching about the project being in trouble and under threat of cancellation had withered to bitching about the absence of maybe 62 seconds of a promo disc and then even that was disproven, I feel a touch of schadenfreude is permissable. It wasn't the promo itself, rather that the last thing he had to bitch about (until he actually hears the discs, of course) had been removed. More to the point, said piece of childishness was confined to Imwan before someone brought it over here, which is exactly what PC was banned from Imwan for (repeating posts I'd made on the Hoff about Beatles fans): I strongly suspect an exchange of PMs, and Fishmonk, remember, he has a track record of revealing the contents of PMs.

I've laid this to rest, and I'll admit now, it was in no way a fair contest. Tough - if you're going to make the kind of statements he did, best that you know what you're talking about, and he didn't, in any detail whatsoever.

Enough of this - within a week, we'll have much more rewarding topics to discuss.

I've heard of sore losers, but you were just being a sore winner at that point. Like do you honestly think that Phil was crushed that the smile promo DID end up on the box after all? You took a single sentence the guy wrote and engineered it to be some unbelievably embarrassing, final nail in the coffin type moment. When really, it was all in your head, Phil made a comment, he moved on, you were just being a dick, plain and simple I'm sorry to say. I wish I didn't have to call you out like this, because it makes me feel like I'm the one being a dick, but in this case, you need to slow your roll Andrew. I'd also like to recommend you cut the kindergarten crap about "revealing pms". It just feels silly, you're an adult, if you have something you don't want other people to know, don't tell anyone else. Face it, private messages aren't private. Thanks for your recent comment. Andrew G.Doe became a member of the IMWAN forum strictly so he could argue with me. Now that I'm banished from IMWAN, Mr.Doe doesn't visit there anymore. IMWAN banished me for quoting one of Mr.Doe's posts on the Steve Hoffman forums. After November 1st, it will no longer be possible for Mr.Doe to debate with people over which versions of the "Smile" songs will be included in "The Smile Sessions" box or whether the box set will be released. If the box arrives on November 1st, those questions will be definitively answered, and Mr. Doe's presence on internet forums will have been rendered obsolete. I quoted one of Mr.Doe's posts from the Hoffman forums, in which Mr.Doe gives a preview of his future villainy: he intends to try provoking Beatles fans into arguing with him, refering to Beatles fans as "astonishingly ignorant" & "impossible to reason with". For putting those two quotes onto the IMWAN forum, they banished me.(Those quotes are from the "Part 11" "Smile" thread on the Hoffman forums)

Though I've never met Mr.Doe, he seems to be an angry, malevolent individual with a bullying nature.(His favorite expression to use against opponents is "Shut The f*ck Up", as if his opponents have no right to express their opinions).  It's not for nothing that I once refered to him(on IMWAN) as "The Darth Vader of The Beach Boys fan community". If Beatles fans ignore his taunts, Mr.Doe will become obsolete. If Beatles fans take Mr.Doe's bait, they, not Mr.Doe, will be banished from the forums at the IMWAN, Steve Hoffman & Smiley Smile websites). Why is that? Because Mr.Doe's pedigree and stature as the operator of a Beach Boys statistics/trivia website gives him the special priveleges to engage in the same sort of online misbehavior that would get his opponents banned.

With respect to the "Smile Sessions" box, things could have easily gone in the opposite direction, and Al Jardine or Mike Love's lawyers could have found fault with the box, and gotten a court injunction to cause the cancellation or lengthy postponement of the box set. If that had happened, would I have been repeatedly been gloating about it to humiliate Mr. Doe? No, I would not have been gloating. Such a postponement or cancellation would have been a sad way to end The Beach Boys' career. It would have been no cause for celebration.
