Was Friends originally released in both stereo and mono? I have seen some online listed as "mono," but wasn't sure if these were official or simply fold downs.

I've heard a Friends Mono mix not too sure if it is just a true mono mix or not. But I recommend you give it a go Smiley

The Friends album was released in stereo. The mono mix is collapsed from the stereo mix. The Friends/Little Bird single was true mono on both sides, however.

Friends was released in stereo in the United States.  A mono version of the album was issued in England and possibly other European countries.

As far as I know it was done as a fold down, and only in the U.K. and/or Europe.

The other day I discovered that the copy of the Friends LP I bought 15 years ago actually is the mono version. Which is pretty ironic as I would love to have the pre-1965 LPs in mono and don't care about a Friends collapsed stereo at all.

It certainly sounds like it's a "button job" but the mono version is not an unpleasant experience.  Very solid sounding and well balanced.
