I figure you guys will steer me in the right direction.

Picked up the DSTOM box and it has a original and remastered mixes of the album in Quad.

How would I get a true Quad mix out of a DVD onto a 7.1 Huh

I don't mess with the 7.1 much; everything's on regular 2 channel stereo, primarily because the remainder of my equipment is 20 years or older...except for the DVD, which is just a simple Sony DVD player where I pull from the 2 channels on that.

I think if you were to play the Quad mix on a 7.1 system, the Quad mix would only use the front and rear channels, left and right. Most likely you could mess with your settings and get a fuller soundstage using the 7.1. I did something similar with the Moody Blues' 5.1 releases, which were nothing more than the original 1973 Quad releases.
