Are you reuniting with the rest of the Beach Boys?

'No. There's been talk that I was going to join the Mike Love group but its not true. At least they're helping to keep the music alive, I guess".

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Just to nitpick, that response doesn't actually speak to a reunion, just about joining Mike's touring band, which I don't think has ever been a possibility.

I've never expected Brian to rejoin Mike's band. However I wish Al would rejoin them I wouldn't actually wouldn't have a problem calling the band "The Beach Boys".

Hasn't the most likely option always been some sort of one- or two-off big reunion show? Film it, record it, print up the DVDs and CDs, and we're done.

I've always found the notion of a big reunion tour a bit difficult to believe, but stranger things have happened. Brian singing "Colors of the Wind" awesomely, for one.

Believe it or not, the Mike and Bruce band got really good when John Cowsill moved to drums and Scott Totten became musical director. Bruce still just stands there clapping his hands, and Mike is still his usual corny, cocky, jerky self. But the band is great...Scott Totten does an awesome Betsy and Christian Love sounds a lot like Carl.

Removing Chris Farmer and promoting Scott Totten made a drastic improvement in Mike & Bruce's band.

I think Mike's and Bruce's voices have really improved over the last years, DDD and DYWD are great:

i was being a little jokey with that youtube comment, cause i'm aware that isn't a good way.  I just checked out more videos, i think the one i watched (of wouldn't it be nice) was just a poor moment for em.

anyway, i always figured that any sort of "reunion" show would have an amalgam of bands.  Just cause i couldn't see brian doing it without mr. foskett there

I`d like to at minimum see Billy H. and Eddie Carter on stage if the reunion ends up happening.

Christian Love sounds a lot like Carl.

I disagree -- Christian sounds like he's related to Carl, but not that much like him. Christian's sister Hayleigh comes much closer to Carl vocally, imho.

On the 2 tunes that he sings on Mike's unreleased solo album, he sounds quite a bit like Carl, though not clearly as strong. There is something in the timbre of his voice that sounds like Carl to my ear.

Right. He has a certain sound reminding of Carl but not the power and ability like Carl. But if he'll work on his voice and maybe even takes lessons he could be a very strong singer

BTW no reunion ? Says who ?

Now THIS is a great idea! In fact, give him the entire cake and we'll have the next Brian/Mike Good Vibrations level hit single within days!

After hearing Brian's vocals in "Don't Fight The Sea" I expect a full fledged studio album of new hits (not songs, that's not good enough!)

It's fantastic!

I've been wondering about DFTS...supposedly Brian recorded vocals around 1989, and again recently?  I think I hear a mix of his new sweeter sound, with his earlier, shoutier approach.  To me, it sounds like his first 4 words in each verse is the new part, immediately answered by his 1989 self.
