I can't say that I'm a closet fan, but when I watched this movie as a kid I always found the song catchy. About a year ago I found out that it was recorded by the Beach Boys....well, imo, the song is neither good or bad, it just is.

... and you forgot the (longer) alternate version during the closing credits . Must have that one somewhere... will put in on YouTube this evening (if I can find it).

Always a fan of Make it Big...back to when I had Still Cruisin' on cassette tape, it's prolly the only song, besides In My Car on that album, that I know all the words to.
