I came across a series of recordings listed as "1967 rehearasals"; here are the tracks:

God Only Knows
California Girls
Surfer Girl
You're So Good To Me
The Letter
Help Me Rhonda
Heroes & Villains
Their Hearts Were Full of Spring

are these the songs that were recorded for Lei'd In Hawaii?

I'm pretty sure. All the tracks I've heard so far are just vocals, organ/keyboard and drums (besides their Hearts Were Full of Spring, obviously).

Yeah, the rehearsals are good. Especially enjoy the "California Girls" rehearsal, and they switched the lyric in "Help Me Rhonda" to "Help You Rhonda". "The Letter" on "Rarities" is from the rehearsal.

pretty sure Sloop John B was on there as well, which I believe Brian played bass on...who played it when he wasnt? i love the organ parts...some say annoying, i love it. Lei'd is one of my favorite BB subjects for some reason. Wish the other night was recorded or booted

Same here. Surfer Girl is on the Good Vibrations box, and Good Vibrations is on the Hawthorne set (I think that's a rehearsal one). Heroes and Villains (Live) is on the Concert twofer... This boot is one I'd love to hear.

Just for frame of reference --

The "rehearsals" were recorded *after* the concerts. It seems the live recordings were deemed unusable. The 'rehearsals' have a veryl Smiley Smile feel to them.

There were also real rehearsals before the Hawaii-shows. "Good vibrations" on Hawthorne,CA and "Their hearts were full of spring" are from that rehearsal

It's been said that Brian directed and wrote that speech.

BTW I think H&V sounds fantastic in that version (except the comments)

It's been said, but the evidence has never been presented, as far as I know.

There exists a tape where you can hear Brian giving Mike directions for that speech, but I never herad it.

I'll have to listen to it again to know what I'm talking about, and I'm not going to do that now. Maybe someone else can, or else I'll see if I can find it later.

I'd be curious about that too Mitchell, I think I hear Brian singing something that's not in the actual song towards the end but I couldn't ever understand what it was.  I'm talking about the end of the last H&V chorus...whenever you get around to it I'd love to know more about this!

Yeah, it's at the end. I think Cam Mott knows what he says.
