Hello all,

I've been lurking on this board for a few months, and this is my first post.  I'm a 37 year old BW/BB nut, and have been since I heard my mother's "Help Me Rhonda" 45 when I was about 8 years old.  I've been in and out of the BB message boards and mailing lists for over 10 years, so I'm familiar with many of the names on this board.

I too am eagerly awaiting the release of the SMiLE Sessions, and I hit up this board daily to see if there's an update.  To my disappointment, still nothing new, not even a track list.

I bought the Mojo magazine after reading about it in this message board, then regretted it after actually reading it.  I have no turntable, so the single is basically a display piece for me at this point.   Desperate to hear the new mixes, I've been scouring YouTube, and finally found that someone posted both songs off the single.  Forgive me if this has been mentioned already, although I suspect not, as this looks to be a fairly new post to YouTube.

Wonderful:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrFeN16LZZ4

Cabinessence:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnnrJ4tCqZM&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_959681

If you play them in 480p they sound quite nice.  Lots clearer then an earlier posted Cabinessence video.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and re-introduce myself to everyone!

The background vocals especially. Good to hear Bruce so loud and clear!

Gosh these sound fantastic!  Cabinessence will always hold a special place in my heart, as Dennis played an acetate of it for me the first time I set foot in the old American Productions offices on Ivar, (with The Flame rehearshing next door!), to give me an idea of what Smile could have been... We then hightailed it up to Brian's house, where he had Desper play us a ton of stuff!

Were the yodelayee parts recorded with the rest of the BVs for Wonderful, or have they just been added to the mix because they were available? I 've always though the BVs for wonderful were week (and possibly superfluous) compared to those for most other recordings and I'm sure BW could have done better if the circumstances had been more conducive.

YES!

Sorry, but I get excited when somebody posts my YouTube videos. So, yes, that is indeed my video. However, I'm scared that I'm going to wear the single out soon enough. If you want the original MP3, PM me. If thats legal...

Naw.

Although the yodeling vocals do feel loud as ballz, here.

The yodels don't seem loud to me at all on the MOJO "Wonderful" -- they sound like they blend in perfectly, imo. I've inadvertently listened to the old version from the Good Vibes box a couple of times, and I found that I missed the yodeling BVs. A very small change to the overall track, but a nice touch -- and hopefully an indication of the kind of fine-tuning we'll get on the "album" disc.

The yodels might be the greatest thing on SMiLE IMO

I never noticed them there in the first place (I only got the Box Set off eBay the other day - Bargain!) but now I listen , I always thought the Box set version didn't has as much impact. Now I know why!

the 'truck Driving Man' vocals in Cabin Essence also sound better - almost doubled tracked as opposed to single tracked. If your confused, listen to the second 'Who ran the iron horse' segmant and then this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dje0M5b_9M

...and isn't that the perfect motto for THE SMiLE SESSIONS box set?

Honest, not perfect.
