I believe Jan & Dean actually did do a reunion single in the '70s called "Fun City."

Well, jan did record a song with that name. I'm not sure if it was Jan&Dean though. They did a re-recording of "Sidewalk surfin'" in the 70s.

It was Jan & Dean. Oddly enough, though Dean is on both of those recordings, on "Fun City" is credited to Jan & Dean. Unless you mean Dean's re-recording, as opposed to Jan's.

I've always been a pretty big fan of Fun City! Good tune

Agree! A lot of Jan's post-accident music isn't fully appreciated. "That's The Way It Is" and "How-How I Love Her" are two others that are definitely worth checking out!

Mike Love can do artsy - Let The Wind Blow, anyone? The man is a poet and a visionary. You know he's a certified TM teacher? That means he's like, holy.
Nah, nah, nah. Cut the crap, man. If that's your idea of a visionary, you're in a" hole" lotta trouble - he's about as holy as a thinly sliced piece of swiss cheese. Roll Eyes

How about "All This is That".  Awesome.  Co-credited to Carl and Al, but come on the thing just OOZES Mike's eastern religion stuff.  One of the most lovely songs the BB's ever recorded.   Also the often  lauded "Big Sur".  He wrote the lyrics to Good Vibrations for pete's sake.  That clearly stands up to anything else the boys ever wrote.  Mike Love has the jive to survive.  It's in their somewhere. If you're THAT DAMN GOOD you may lose touch with it, but you never lose it.  You lock Mike Love in a room with Brian Wilson, a piano, and a notebook and you just may get something fantastic.

I love that song too!  One of my favs.  But I always thought Al wrote the bulk of it.

He may have, but it sure sounds Mike-ish to me.  Plus his voice is fantastic on it.  Unless i'm mistaking that too and it's Al, lol.

Carl sounds like GOD or something on it.  I get goosebumps if it's turned up loud enough.  He does that incredible "JAAAAIIII GUUUURRRRUUUU DEVVVVVVVVV....." and just when you're going "Damn, that's good" he hits some crazy little melody that's really high that just gets me every time.  Great song, great vocals all around, stellar performance by Carl.

If you listen close too you can hear Mike doing a low bass chant "Jai Guru Dev... Jai Guru Dev... Jai Guru Dev..." sounds awesome.  Makes me want to go be a hippy and put a dot on my forehead or something.

Getting back to the topic here:

Has anyone in BW's camp actually confirmed anything that Mike is saying about this "reunion"?  It seems whenever Brian is approached on it in interviews, he plays dumb, not knowing anything about it.

Gotta love the Beach Boys.  Totally dysfunctional all the way to the bitter end.
