For those of you holding out for a true CD release (and not just some crappy CD-R deal) of Al Jardine's masterpiece, A Postcard From California, wait no longer.  According to MusicTap it's coming out this year on Oct. 4.  No mention of bonus tracks as of yet.

Jeesh, why is October the target month for all these releases!? Not complaining, just a funny coincidence.

Isn't a great time to be a fan? There is so much going on in Beach Boys fandom world it is hard to keep track of everything!

I've heard that there will be three bonus tracks, including one with Carl vocals. ESQ has coverage of the upcoming release in the latest issue.

Good. There needs to be some kinda incentive to buy the thing.  The way it is now, it's pretty weak with only 3 or 4 songs that are keepers.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Dammit. This will steal most of SMiLE's thunder. I might have to settle for this instead, funds limited as they are.  LOL LOL LOL

No don't worry, Brian is going to push back his solo album to November and TSS will be pushed back into December.

That's cool by me. I want to hear the Disney record SO MUCH MORE than Smile Sessions. I'm not doubting the Sessions will come out in fact I have a good feeling it will all go fine and the only people worrying are you neurotic obsessives. Sorry, but it's very, very true. I am not worrying whatsoever. When it comes out it comes out. What's so hard to understand? It's coming out- the evidence is mostly for it. It's an appropriate time for it, they have the right people working on it and Brian has sounded very optimistic on it overall, which is green lights for me.

Personally, though, I enjoy hearing new things from Brian. Smile is cool and very significant to our lives but you have to chill out sometimes and not get so hung up on the details. Read the Carl Wilson interview someone posted in the BBoys Media sections please. He's asked how Wild Honey happened. To paraphrase he says things just happen you know we don't really do anything it all just goes down. This is the new reddi whip zen that we're propagating on the board. Just inhale a lung full of vital life chemicals - nitrous oxide - and then see if the wait for Smile Sessions is so bad.

That is the song "Waves of Love."  I know aljardine.com used to have a verison of "California Dreamin" up on the previews page with Crosby on it, maybe that is a bonus track.

After working with Snoop Dogg on "We Are The World 25" and his use of "I wish they all could be California," on Katy Perry's California Gurls (which got Mike & Brian a co-credit).  Al did a remix of California Saga called, "On my way to Californizle," with Snoop which should sell a million units in January.

I am of course joking about the remix with Snoop, but everything else is accurate, including the songwriting credit:

I'll buy it again if it's on vinyl. Otherwise the download will suffice.

Yes, that's one of the bonus tracks, along with "Waves of Love." Also, a reworked version of "Sloop John B" from Al's book of the same title.

I'm glad I waited so long, now I'll be rewarded for my patience with this proper CD, that will last me a lifetime. The Fall of 2011 will forever be remebered as the time when The Beach Boys reclaimed the throne! I wish Mike Love could find a label for his last album, too.

Which technically would be Mike's last album with his new label?

Man, that was fast!
They probably shouldn't even pick him up if it's going to be that much of a stinker.

His last recorded album, still unreleased in any format, working title "Mike Love, Not War", I believe. As for "Looking Back With Love", I am curious as to how bad it is, wasn't Curt Boettcher involved in that one?

It's pretty good minus some questionable cover choices and Rockin' the Man in the Boat. Besides, I thought the Brianistas defend everything Brian does, as Brian played on and produced an early session for Be My Baby on Looking Back With Love.
