The following original Jan & Dean albums, with new liner notes, will be released by Capitol Records on May 3, 2011:

The Little Old Lady from Pasadena

Folk 'n Roll

Jan & Dean Meet Batman

Filet of Soul

Popsicle

Currently listed on Amazon . . . and these albums will show up on iTunes on May 3.

This is part of Capitol's effort to finally get the original Jan & Dean Liberty catalog available in the digital market.

After these . . . five more albums to go, in terms of liner notes, to encompass all 15 of J&D's Liberty LPs from the '60s.

Enjoy . . .

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

What bout Take Linda Surfin, Surf City, Drag City, Deadmans Curve/New Girl In School and Ride the Wild Surf???

Wouldn't it make more sense for those to come out first?

Those albums and notes are already available . . . with the exception of Ride the Wild Surf (notes).

The five remaining sets of liner notes to be submitted are Golden Hits Vol. 1, Ride the Wild Surf, Pop Symphony, Golden Hits Vol. 2, and Golden Hits Vol. 3.

I'm working on these now, and should be done soon.

What about Save For a Rainy Day?

Save For A Rainy Day is already available digitally . . . at least on iTunes.

This new round of reissues from Capitol encompases the original J&D albums for Liberty Records, 1962-1966.

But, BUt BUT...  you're the liner dude! Seems like all you'd have to do is suggest it, to make it happen. or at the very least, ask if it's in the works, all the while  stressing the importance of vinyl, and how it sounds so much warmer, and how SO many are just now getting back into vinyl, and wo9uldn't it be great for all them folks to be able to enjoy the J&D catalog the way Jan planned it??

It's cool to know that their catalogue is finally getting the proper treatment it deserves. I've wanted to collect J&D for a while now, but the only thing you can really find in stores are greatest hits packages with little to no info.

Yeah, the new liner notes I've written (still writing) for these digital releases are more extensive than what you would get with a CD release. Good historical context, musically and soclally. Plus, I've included the original notes from the backs of the LP covers.

This is an important step by Capitol . . . to balance the glut of non-original cover versions that are billed as "Jan & Dean" in the digital market.

Some of J&D's non-single album cuts are better than the hits . . . arrangement and production wise.

Here's a useful link. I'll soon have a descriptive blurb for each album on the site:

I still need Pop Symphony. Those One Way twofers should drop in price once this new campaign gets under way. Anything exclusive on Golden hits 1,2,3?

Golden Hits one is half a new album and half hits.
