"Fire" Painting - where be it now?
«

On an auction site a few years ago, I saw what was supposed to be an original (latter-day) painting for "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" by Frank Holmes. As I recall, it sold for a few hundred bucks.
The photo of it showed it leaning up against a white fireplace, and had a rather bad glare on it from the flash.
What's the story on this? Anybody here buy it, or know who did? Is it real, fake? (Looked real to me, but that doesn't mean anything...)
Interested to hear! Thanks.

Brian burned it.

Maybe that was his fireplace, then.

Naw, he burned it at Mike's house and then reported the painting stolen.

OK, he burned it, then it turned up anyway on a CD-ROM titled "Unsurpassed Paintings".
Come on, really...doesn't one of you ESQ guys have it somewhere, to go with your other Frank Holmes art he did for your special issues?
And further to the question--besides the Fire painting and the ESQ pieces--are there other examples of Holmes SMiLE art floating around that I haven't heard of?

yeah, if it led to a working site, which it doesn't, and Derek was still in charge of selling Frank's artwork, which he may be if you have $6,666.66 each.
but otherwise

Geez, everyone is a smart-ass critic... No one had mentioned the identity of the earlier seller (DB) in this thread. Defunct or not, the link contains relevant information.

I still have it. At that price nobody here should be surprised.
Somewhere out there a Wall Street decimillionaire will stumble over it, and/or Frank will sell him another rendering for a fraction of what I'm asking, leading our robber baron to figure he's stolen another piece of America.
In the meantime, my grandson is fascinated by it.... and its "Good Vibrations" companion

Yep, that's the one I meant. I guess it's not a fireplace behind it, just a white brick wall.
My memory isn't perfect. Did I tell you about my condition?

Can you send me full size copies of this and the Fire painting? ( I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a copy today)

I second that emotion. Can you PM me regarding larger files, if you have them? I'd love to do some Photoshop cleanup...
