I was doing some google searches on Kevin Leslie and Evan Landy, and found out that Let's Go To Heaven In My Car was nominated for a Razzie in 1987.  I Want Your Sex by George Michael "won" the award all 5 songs shown below:

WORST 'ORIGINAL' SONG

"El Coco Loco (So, SO Bad)" from WHO'S THAT GIRL? Written by Coati Mundi
"I Want Your Sex" from BEVERLY HILLS COP II Written by George Michael
"Let's Go to Heaven in My Car" from POLICE ACADEMY 4 Written by Brian Wilson, Eugene E. Landy and Gary Usher
"Million Dollar Mystery" from MILLION DOLLAR MYSTERY Written by Barry Mann and John Lewis Parker
"You Can Be a Garbage Pail Kid" from THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS' MOVIE Written by Michael Lloyd

"Let's Go To Heaven In My Car" always sounded kinda threatening to me. Like I picture a present day Brian locking the doors, flames appearing outside the windows, him turning into some kind of mutant form of himself (red eyes, fangs, that sort of thing), and turning to the lady he's with and saying it in a demonic voice. Then he could drive off of a bridge or something. I've never heard the song.

Awesome tune! Yesterday I was assembling the playlist for my birthday party tonight and LGTHIMC definitely made the cut.  3D

i remember when that song came out on a 45. the local radio station at that time would play 2 new singles on saturday night and the listeners would call in and vote which one they liked the best. lgthimc even won that night!
then i read that the 45 had been withdrawn. i couldn't find it anywhere locally. i went to virginia beach for a little vacation and visit my brother. went to a mall there and lo and behold i saw 10 copies with the pic sleeve. i quickly bought them all. never played it though.

Really, really poor song. One of Brian's worst...

God must’ve smiled the day Brian Wilson was born!

"ragegasm" - /rāj • ga-zəm/ : a logical mental response produced when your favorite band becomes remotely associated with the bro-country genre.

LOL

As I read this, I saw it in my mind.

"Then he could drive off a bridge or something" That was the clincher.
