Oh for the good old days
The NEW Van Dyke Parks Singles!!
«
on:
June 28, 2011, 10:16:33 AM »
Mail came today with a special package holding the first two NEW VDP singles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Showing fronts and backs; I wonder if the vinyl looks amazing...
Dreaming Of Paris / Wedding In Madagascar Faranaina
Wall Street / Money Is King
Now all I have to do is go to the used stereo store and buy a turntable that actually performs and then convince myself to break the shrink on these, thereby destroying the collectible value of having them still sealed.
Maybe I'll just download the tunes to listen.

'Vinyl' is plural already, you don't need to add an 's' to the end of it. That "Money Is King"/"Wall Street" picture sleeve is impressively weird, I'd love to own it! Have you listened to the songs yet or are you one of those people who doesn't intend to do that for whatever foolish reason?

Huh? If you read to the bottom, you'll see that I expressed the need to shop for a turntable... so, NO, Haven't heard them yet.
You'll probably have to wait until they've all been released before they might sell single copies; right now they're selling the series of 6 for $75 to the USA/$100 the rest of the world( as we know it) The third single( next issue) has art by Frank Holmes...

I think he posted that comment

you added that last tidbit in - as I also read your post a while ago and did not see that part.
I can't wait for the next single to come out! 'Wedding in Madagascar' is a great piece. As Bgas said the first two singles are available on itunes. Also, 'Come To The Sunshine' and 'Do What You Wanta' (and two others) are available for download - if anyone here hasn't heard these gems it's definitely worth the few bucks to purchase!

God must’ve smiled the day Brian Wilson was born!

Nope. It was there from the initial post. Amazing what can be missed.
I did go back and edit "vinyls look" to "vinyl looks" since it seemed to be bothering MS something fierce! ( tho maybe I should have left the "s" off "look" so the spelliing police would have something else on which to comment; but then, they may take issue with my use of looks instead of appears)

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

I just thought I'd stop by and remark that I also feel it is amazing that people missed a section of bgas's post.

Nice stuff. The Sally one is really good too.
And I also like the idea of VDP sculptured in butter. Maybe this will make an appearance at the Iowa State Fair this year.

'Wedding In Madagascar' and 'Money Is King' are particularly typically sumptuous.
