Before reading things on the internet about albums, there'd be times I'd be confused about the album's sound and what I thought it would be from the looks of the cover. For instance, before I really got into Harry Nilsson, I bought his A Little Touch of Shmilsson in the Night...when I look at the cover and listen to the album, I'm really confused...the cover makes it look like really creative hard/rock/pop and what I heard was older standards with a tremendous voice and great orchestra...nothing wrong with the cover or music...just seems misleading.

Others I've thought were weird:
-Revolver, I always thought it was strange that it was in Black/White...that album is so colorful; I guess that really shows the pre-essence of the Beatles 'psychedelicacy'...i'm sure it wasn't planned out that the Beatles in 66 were just plain B/W Beatlesand then all the sudden there's the idea of colorful-hip-Beatles in 67.....IDK, that cover is great though.

Don't get me started on Beach Boy covers that bug me...MIU's cover just doesn't match the music....BB (85) cover is just plain dull and helps the music seem sold out to the 80s....
However much I love L.A. (Light Album)'s cover, I could only wonder what kind of postercard illustrations artists could come up with for other album covers of the BB like Surf's Up or 20/20 or Holland....That idea kinda makes me relate back to how Smile was going to have an illustration for each song (love those pictures and that idea! Sheer GENIUS!)

As far as the BBs are concerned, I think Surf's Up is my favourite cover -- and it actually matches the music inside too! The title though, maybe not so much...

Perhaps Landlocked would fit better?

I've always thought that one of those group shots should have been the cover for the "BB's 1985" album. I've always thought that that album was their real last "group effort", no matter how bland the results might have been. Perhaps one of those great group shots with a seemingly happy and healthy Brian would have made for a better choice. I love the Surf's Up and Holland album covers. One of my favorite albums covers of anybody is the Friends album cover. Though I can never figure out exactly who is who.  Grin
