From the May 2011 '100 Greatest Songwriters' issue...

"You have to put Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney together because those two guys wrote perfect songs; all their material was melody based. Unbelievable. The melodies on 'In My Room,' or 'The Warmth Of The Sun' are just classic. The Beatles never would have recorded Sgt. Pepper's had they not heard Pet Sounds. Brian Wilson is a tortured genius, an incredible maniac. His Smiley Smile album is still so far beyond what anybody else has done to this day. I'm not sure how much he influenced Alice, but when we were writing Billion Dollar Babies and School's Out and all the hard rock classics we made, we would sit around listening to Smiley Smile."

I think you're right there - considering BDB is probably in my top 25 rock and roll albums!  Rock!

It's nice that Alice is giving credit where credit is due.
I gotta admit - even if SS was a "bunt", it still got me to go "wow - this is the Beach Boys?".
