Colossally confused by apparently untitled 1976 documentary
«

Help.
1976 documentary, featuring footage of a live gig in Anaheim, plus tons of well-mined interview footage (Brian in bed, Van Dyke outside Tower Records, etc) - shown here in the UK on Sky Arts now and then, but apparently untitled. It's credite it in the OSG as 'Good Vibrations Tour'.
Question one: does it have a title?
Credit roll at the end appears to have been stolen from Saturday Night Live. Directed by Gary Weis, Produced by Lorne Michaels, Written by Aykroyd/Belushi etc.
Question two: what the blazes is going on here?
Here's hoping.

That's the famous NBC-TV "It's OK" special: the end credits are accurate. Released on DVD a few years ago in the UK as "The Good Vibrations Tour".

Technically the special is simply entitled
The Beach Boys
. That's how TV Guide listed it when it first aired, and that's what it says in the opening credits. Have no idea why it became known as
It's OK
, especially because the song isn't that show anywhere.
And the reason for the
SNL
-esque credits is, well...because that's pretty much what it was....
SNL
based around The Beach Boys, produced by Lorne, special appearance by Aykroyd and Belushi as the California Harbor Patrol cops, produced by Lorne Michaels....so yeah, that's why the end credits are accurate, as AGD sez...

Can't help thinking it's a format that didn't catch on. I mean, imagine The Daily Show's Justin Bieber Special. Actually, no, don't. (Although it's an open goal for NAMBLA gags...)

The show was done during the first summer hiatus for
SNL
, which was still a brand new show.
SNL
had premiered in October of '75, and this special was a "let's put on a show!" kind of thing. In fact, the next summer, they
did
do a show that was called something like 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation". They were all Beach Boy fans, they wanted to spent the summer in L.A., and Lorne Michaels pitched this show idea to Dr. Pepper & NBC. Plus, it coincided with
15 Big Ones
, and the whole Brian's Back campaign, so it was perfect timing. I'll never forget Belushi & Aykroyd pulling into Dennis' driveway in Malibu, driving this smoking, belching old Chevy of Dan's that they'd just driven cross-country!

The OP said he saw it on Sky Arts TV and gave the correct name of the legit DVD release, on which disc "It's OK" is the third last song.
